KW-05 / Project Malia
Doctrine: Interceptor
Role: Low-Drag Hull Interceptor
Status: Field Proven
Description
Project Malia is a compact pursuit craft developed for immediate speed in soft to moderate surf where hesitation normally costs the wave.
Wide planing area, low entry resistance, and clean release through the tail allow the board to generate forward motion with minimal input, then transition quickly into controlled trim or directional change as sections begin to run.
Despite its short length, Malia behaves less like a traditional small board and more like a miniature transport platform tuned for acceleration—entering early, carrying speed effortlessly, and maintaining composure through flat water that would slow narrower interceptors.
The design favors flow over force.
Operators often report reduced need for pumping, smoother line selection, and an unusual ability to stay connected to weaker energy.
Extended use may recalibrate expectations of what a sub-6-foot board should feel like.
Configuration:
Sub-6’ fish
Twin keel
Soft entry → flat exit
Fuller rails forward → sharper tail
Low rocker
Flat-to-slight dome deck
Status: Field Proven
